NZEB buildings

nZEB ie almost zero energy building (almost zero energy buildings) it is a definition used to identify a building with almost zero energy consumption. They are particularly performing buildings that reduce consumption and the impact on the environment as much as possible:the energy needs for heating, cooling, ventilation, domestic hot water production and electricity are very low.

We anticipated the topic in June 2016, now (finally) the legislation is in force: from 1 January 2019 all public buildings must be nZEB intended as property or use. Likewise, from 1 January 2021 the obligation applies to all other new buildings, extensions and major renovations. Lombardy and Emilia Romagna have been particularly virtuous, anticipating other regions, and it is already mandatory for all buildings.

The nZEB definition is used for the first time in the European directive nr. 2010/31 / EU on the energy performance of buildings (‘EPBD directive’, Energy Performance of Buildings Directive) for improving the energy efficiency of European buildings. Although it contains the guidelines and the principles for the building to be as efficient as possible, it has been left to each EU member state the flexibility to incorporate the legislation taking into account tradition, specificity and above all climate.

An “integrated structure and building structure design” becomes indispensable; to limit the intervention of mechanical systems you will have to look for passive energy solutions by studying the building from a point of view of shape, orientation and structures, evaluate irradiation, prevailing winds, temperatures and shadowing. The remaining share of active energy will be supplied with renewable sources.

Taking into account the intended use of the building, particular attention must be paid to the management costs which will then be monitored with a home automation system;the continuous verification of consumption leads to greater awareness of savings by users and therefore their improvement over time.

They were the buildings of the future, they are the buildings of the present!
